ABOUT THE FOUNDER:

 

Donna Salgado is a dancer, choreographer, and founder of Continuum Contemporary / Ballet. 

 

She has been commissioned by the National Choreographers Initiative 2024, the Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival, the Columbia Ballet Collaborative, Newport Contemporary Ballet, Princeton University Ballet, Harvard Ballet Company, Counterpointe Festival for Women Choreographers, Ballet on the Beach Dance Festival, and her work has been presented by Bryant Park, 92nd St Y, Brooklyn Ballet, Latin Choreographers Festival, and many others. She has participated in creative residencies at Kaatsbaan Cultural Park and Windhover Center for the Performing Arts, and was a 2025 Gibney Space Residency Awardee. She was named a 2025 State Choreographic Fellow and her work was mentioned as a 2025 Pointe Magazine Reader’s Choice Favorite Performance. 

 

She’s performed professionally with the José Mateo Ballet Theatre, Eglevsky Ballet, Connecticut Ballet, Dances Patrelle, Rebecca Kelly Ballet, Thomas/Ortiz Dance, David Fernandez’s Some Dance Company, Deborah Lohse’s ad Hoc Ballet, Sierra Nevada Ballet, Marika Brussel, and has danced in works by George Balanchine, Paul Taylor, Geoffrey Holder, Edwaard Liang, Gabrielle Lamb, Amy Seiwert, and for Juanjo Arques in his work for the NYU Center for Ballet and the Arts. 

 

Donna’s formative ballet training began under Tatiana Akinfieva-Smith and she attended summer programs with ABT, CPYB, NYSSSA, and Lines Ballet. Donna holds an MFA in Dance Performance from SUNY Purchase and a BFA in Dance Performance from Towson University. She holds certifications in Pilates and Floor Barre, and she is an experienced ballet instructor with experience on the faculties of the School at STEPS on Broadway and the Joffrey Ballet School.
